Marketing plan for an
analytical instrument
This project was to prepare a marketing plan for the client’s product.
Tasks included carrying out customer interviews, competitive comparisons,
marketing material appraisal and survey of research literature. The report
summarised the current and likely future market for the product, emerging
applications and proposed a product and marketing strategy.
Market research for an enhancement to an electro-medical product
This project concerned evaluating the market for an enhancement to an
electro-medical product. The project took place in two phases, and working
as part of a small team, tasks included reviewing the technology and market
together with telephone interviewing and visiting customers. A report
and presentation was prepared which summarised customer opinion and likely
market size and growth.
Impact of Food and Drug Administration regulation
This project concerned the impact of the US FDA regulation 21 CFR part 11 on
the client’s products. Tasks included reviewing the regulation, telephone
interviewing customers and regulatory officials and reviewing competitive
products. The report summarised the regulation, reviewed the effect of the
regulation on customers and made proposals for a route to future compliance.
Internet based marketing questionnaires
The client wanted a survey of buying
intentions and applications for a product.
Over 1200 emails were sent to the client's existing customers with a link to a web page.
The web page contained a questionnaire which could be completed by the
respondent in a few minutes. The questionnaire was completed by
over 13% of the customers who received the email. This
provided over one hundred customer responses - more than would be gained from a
postal questionnaire and at a significantly lower cost than by telephoning customers.
